Computer Science GCSE gives students an in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. It offers an insight into what goes on ‘behind the scenes’, including a significant amount of computer programming, which many students find absorbing.
A significant part of the course is spent on developing and programming systems to solve problems. As such, students must be prepared to invest time and effort into mastering the basics of writing solid code.
The students will have access to a wide variety of software to develop and advance their skills and knowledge. This course will enable students to develop critical thinking, analysis and problem solving skills. For many, it’ll be a fun and interesting way to develop these skills, which can be transferred to other subjects and even applied in day-to-day life.
The course covers:
You will be assessed in two examinations at the end of the course. Each exam equates to 50% of the total qualification.
The first exam will focus on theoretical knowledge of Computer Systems.
The second exam will focus on computational thinking, algorithms and programming.
