The Cambridge Nationals in Sport Studies gives learners the opportunity to learn about a wide array for sports related topics. This gives them the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge as well as exploring some key practical elements.
This qualification is equivalent to 1 GCSE.
Students must study:
Contemporary issues in sport;
Assessment: 1 hour external exam, worth 60 marks.
Developing sports skills;
Assessment: Centre-assessed coursework task, 10 learning hours.
There are then 4 optional units:
Sports Leadership
· Knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to be an effective sports leader.
Sport and Media
· Exploring the relationship between sport and the media.
· Sports coverage across media outlets over time.
Working in the Sports Industry
· Exploring a wide range of career opportunities relating to sport industry as a whole.
Developing Knowledge and Skills in Outdoor Activities.
· Outdoor and adventure activities and the organisation provided to access them.
· 1 x 1 hour external exam
· 3 x centre-assessed coursework tasks, each 10 learning hours.
· A Level PE
· Cambridge National Level 3 Sports Studies/Sports Science
· VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy
· BTEC Level 3 NED in Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
· BTEC Level 3 NED in Sports Coaching and Development
· BTEC Level 3 NED in Sport and Exercise Science
· Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Community Coaching
