The school operates a 50 period 2 week timetable. There are 5 periods per day with each lesson lasts for one hour.
There are developmental links with all 14 feeder primary schools through leadership, pastoral, Science, English, Maths and Gifted and Talented working parties.
As we transition through age range change, departmental curricula have been carefully planned to ensure clear progression from Key Stage 3 into 4. While some students are still able to choose to go to Ashby School, strong links have been retained through the XMAT subject meetings to ensure a consistent approach to assessment and curriculum planning. In English, Maths and Science, students begin their GCSE work mid way through year 9 which allows for some collaboration between schools.
We are developing our curriculum in line with the knowledge rich school model, changing requirements of GCSE and evolution of KS2, embracing the opportunities that they and new technology provides.
• We are committed to providing a curriculum which is right for our young people, fits the aims of the school and prepares students for life in the 21st century.
• All staff are involved in training, consultation, planning and development of our changing curriculum towards GCSE.
